Aaron Miripol

President & CEO

Aaron Miripol is president and CEO of Urban Land Conservancy, a Denver-based nonprofit real estate organization that helps keep longtime residents and local nonprofits rooted in their communities. Aaron is passionate about fighting inequity and displacement, and he leads ULC’s work with neighborhoods, as well as nonprofit, philanthropic, government, financial, and real estate organizations. Under Aaron’s guidance, ULC and its partners strategically acquire and develop property to create sustainable benefits in underserved communities.

Aaron has more than 30 years of experience running community development and affordable housing organizations. He has overseen more than $1 billion in direct economic development, including more than 3,000 permanently affordable homes.

Since Aaron joined ULC in 2007, ULC has invested in more than 50 properties, totaling over $200 million in direct investments and leveraging more than $1.3 billion in public and private dollars for community benefit. He has led ULC in establishing more than a dozen community land trust sites, which include more than 165,000 square feet of commercial or mixed-use spaces. Today ULC is the largest commercial community land trust in the United States.

Notably, in 2021, Aaron led the $62 million acquisition of the Johnson and Wales University campus — now the Mosaic Community Campus, a 25-acre mixed-use site that supports K-12 education, permanent affordable housing, job training and startup-business incubation.

Prior to ULC, Aaron was the executive director of Thistle Community Housing in Boulder — one of the fastest-growing nonprofit housing providers in Colorado. Under his leadership, Thistle’s affordable housing production grew from 100 to 1,000 rental and for-sale homes serving thousands annually in need of affordable housing.

Before moving to Colorado, Aaron ran two nonprofit community development corporations in Baltimore: Southwest Visions and The Loading Dock.

Locally, Aaron is a founding member of the Neighborhood Development Collaborative, which has supported nearly 23,000 Colorado households through affordable housing, housing counseling and other programs.

He serves on the board of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, a leader in holding financial institutions accountable to community reinvestment requirements. He is also on the Grounded Solution Network’s investment finance board of managers.

Aaron is an avid trail biker and enjoys annual rides up Gold Hill in Boulder. He coached rugby for more than 15 years, including his time as a coach at East High School in Denver.
